The Medical Examiner’s Office (MEO) is seeking an experienced and collaborative MEO Administrative Manager to provide administrative and operational leadership for the office. Working closely with the Chief Medical Examiner, this position advances strategic priorities, strengthens operational effectiveness, and promotes a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The role oversees key functions including accreditation and compliance, financial and contract administration, staff supervision, and office operations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Leads the development of a High Performing Organization
through active demonstration of the County's Pillars of Performance, encouraging leadership and empowerment at all levels of the organization; dedicates QII activities for self and staff; actively mentors, coaches, and collaborates with employees to enhance the County mission and vision while supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provides operational leadership and administrative management for the MEO by partnering with the Chief Medical Examiner (CME) to develop and implement strategic initiatives, operational priorities, office policies, and administrative procedures that support the mission of the office and ensure alignment with departmental and County goals. Assists with strategic planning efforts, updates ClearPoint Strategy, prepares quarterly performance reports and presentations, and represents the CME/MEO at meetings, committees, and other functions as directed.
- Directs accreditation, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance activities
by managing the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) accreditation program, coordinating annual accreditation readiness, maintaining and monitoring accreditation checklists, preparing required reports and documentation, tracking corrective actions, and ensuring ongoing compliance with NAME standards. Assists the Chief Toxicologist in coordinating ANAB accreditation activities and manages office policy review cycles to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Manages the Medical Examiner's Office contract, procurement, and grant administration functions
by developing, negotiating, monitoring, renewing, and maintaining contracts for equipment, maintenance agreements, internship affiliations, professional services, and other operational needs; coordinates with Legal, Purchasing, Risk Management, vendors, universities, and other external agencies to ensure contractual compliance and timely execution. Prepares Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) briefing sheets, and supporting documentation. Identifies grant opportunities;
prepares and submits grant applications; administers awarded grants, including monitoring expenditures, invoicing, reporting, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

the
MEOd
epartmental
financial and business operations
by assisting the CMEand the DHE Business Operations Division Director with annual budget development, budget monitoring, purchasing activities, expenditure forecasting, contract expenditures, and long-range operational planning. Serves as purchasing manager for the office by coordinating procurement activities for equipment, supplies, and contracted services and providing recommendations to support sound fiscal and operational decision-making.
