The Topeka, Kansas plant has a Full Time opening for an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician. ($5,000 retention bonus
- Start rate $36.75 - $39.85 per hour. Depending on experience.) The selected candidate must have basic troubleshooting skills to maintain a highly automated Pet Food manufacturing facility and will be required to assist and train team members with on-shift electrical, instrumentation & controls support.

** Lead Engineer, Controls & Electrical
** KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Responsible for the manufacture of pet foods and snacks while complying with all food safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
* Understand and support company and site safety policies and perform work-related activities in a safe manner. Recognize unsafe working conditions, coach peers and suggest new safety standards as appropriate.
* Understand, follow and improve documented operational, maintenance and sanitation standards in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) work environment.
* Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation equipment and software.
* Utilize drawings, prints and instruction manuals to determine proper steps to be taken for equipment preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
* Coach other team members on electrical, instrumentation and controls skills; defect identification and resolution; machine functionality and equipment repair.
* Actively participate in training and qualification programs for designated area, participate in assessments, ensure effective training and maintain consistent qualification standards.
* Support the adherence of NFPA 70e standards for facility.
* Review, follow and write standard operating procedures, one-point lessons and safe practices.
* Increase skills and knowledge in E&I technology by attending technical training sessions, participating in vendor visits and scheduled maintenance activities.
* Facilitates effective shift passdowns with the prior/next shift to discuss safety, quality and production issues.
* Lead projects to improve safety, quality or production results in a designated area.
* Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees when needed.
* Model behaviors consistent with the Smucker Basic Beliefs, maintaining professional and respectful relationships with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Other duties as assigned.
** QUALIFICATIONS

* Basic reading, writing and math skills

* Clear understanding and working knowledge of:  + Allen-Bradley PLC platform hardware and software  + Allen-Bradley drives and motion control  + Wonderware HMI/Allen-Bradley Panel View graphics display hardware and software  + Ethernet/IP communications  + electrical power distribution & controls  + electric motors & motor controls  + electrical testing equipment
* Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and one-line drawings
* Demonstrated controls, electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting skills
* Ability to follow procedures and rules
* Willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to follow directions independently and provide clear instructions to fellow team members
