Job Title: Machine Operator
Shift: Nights
Location: Mars – Topeka

Key Responsibilities- Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or area.
- Operates equipment safely and efficiently.
- Takes corrective actions to solve problems at the root‑cause level.
- Assesses equipment reliability and performs routine repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Works with maintenance to complete preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Maintains accurate records of quality‑control checks, production numbers, and waste performance.
- Keeps detailed logbooks and performs all shift support documentation in a quality‑matter manner.
- Performs quality‑control tasks such as metal checks, date‑code inspection, item‑number verification, and dump‑log recording.
- Demonstrates ownership for product quality by performing all standard quality checks and related duties.
- Opens and operates a forklift.
- Operates a computer and uses standard desktop systems such as LSS, PSL, MIS, and SQCIS.
- Understands principles of inventory control.
- Knows the plant’s products and goals.
- Understands production schedules, production computer systems, and work instructions.
- Has general knowledge of Mars and the systems used by the business.
- Standing on a concrete floor.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
- Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and frequent boarding and disembarking.
- High‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
- Ability to stand on a concrete floor.
- Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and frequent boarding and disembarking.
- At least one year of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles.
- OSHA certification for forklift operation.
- Experience with SAP.
