Superintendent’s role is to lead and develop employees in the operation, optimization, and improvement of their daily workflow in a safe, cost‑effective, and environmentally controlled manner.
Responsibilities & Duties- Ensure EH&S guidelines and procedures are included in area plans, decision making, systems and processes.
- Develop and operate within the plant maintenance budget.
- Provide technical expertise and support in troubleshooting and maintaining process equipment, as well as identifying and driving improvement projects.
- Maintain the plant’s rail system by developing an annual capital maintenance plan to keep the rail system in good operating condition.
- Provide machinery expertise to lead and assist the site with solving rotating equipment issues and making equipment purchases.
- Achieve or surpass safety objectives for your work area.
- Assist in coordinating asset management planning, shutdowns, and preventative maintenance tasks, particularly those that affect production performance.
- Ensure all projects are effectively budgeted before commencement and that all costs are monitored and controlled during implementation.
- Set expectations, follow up with accountability, and foster continual improvement through courageous conversations.
- Coordinate performance management of production teams, including conducting and recording performance reviews.
- 5+ years in chemical plant maintenance experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA standards, etc.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Highly organized, with a focus on process and time‑management discipline.
- Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to multi‑task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of various chemical unit operations.
- Knowledge and practice of leadership and management abilities.
- Knowledge of maintenance planning and computerized maintenance management software.
- Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, high pressure, high temperature, loud noises, and running equipment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toed boots, and hearing protection).
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
This position is safety and security sensitive in nature.
This position deals with hazardous materials and/or industrial processes that can pose a risk to employees and the general public. This facility is required to comply with security standards under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) CFATS regulation 6 CFR Part 27.
