Mars is looking to hire a Process Operator for our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Topeka, Kansas. Key Responsibilities
  • Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or area.
  • Operates equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Takes corrective actions to solve problems at the root cause level.
  • Assesses equipment operating reliability and performs routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting.
  • Performs work with maintenance to complete preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of quality control checks, production numbers, or waste performance.
  • Keeps detailed logbooks and performs all shift support documentation in a quality manner.
  • Performs quality control tasks such as metal checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, etc.
  • Shows high ownership for product quality by performing all standard quality checks and other related duties.
  • Opens and operates a forklift.
  • Opens and operates a computer and utilizes basic standard desktop systems (LSS, PSL, MIS, SQCIS, etc.).
  • Understands principles of inventory control.
  • Knows the plant’s products and goals.
  • Understands production schedules, computer systems, and work instructions.
  • Has general knowledge of Mars & the systems used by the business.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Standing on a concrete floor.
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and frequent on/off cycles.
  • Required to work weekends during peak season.
  • Required to work mandatory overtime during peak season.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks listed in Physical/Environmental Requirements.
  • Forklift OSH certification if operating a forklift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles.
  • Experience operating a forklift with OSHA certification.
  • Experience with SAP.
