Production Lead

Job Summary

The Production Lead supervises and trains production personnel during their shift, ensuring safe, high‑quality manufacturing and on‑time delivery.

• Supervise personnel, production workflow, safety and quality
• Operate all stations of the work center for employee training and troubleshooting purposes
• Confirm that employees have been instructed on the proper safety procedures
• Assist the Production Manager in managing production line personnel and workflow
• Train new hires and/or transfers into the department
• Conduct beginning‑of‑shift and end‑of‑shift meetings with prior/next shift to pass critical production/quality/machine information
• Lead beginning‑of‑shift huddles to review safety information, announcements and assign tasks to shift personnel
• Ensure all personnel wear correct safety equipment before shift start and maintain safety awareness throughout the shift
• Ensure employees apply proper techniques that comply with quality control procedures
• Report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions requiring maintenance to the Maintenance and Safety Coordinator
• Ensure work effort is applied effectively to meet company quality standards and production capacities for the shift
• Provide feedback to the Production Manager regarding department employee performance
• Maintain regular attendance, safely perform tasks and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
• Assist the Production Manager with performance evaluations of shift personnel
• Administer verbal and written disciplinary warnings/counseling per company policy and procedures
• Produce shift end production reports, including work performed, back orders and hot items
• Assist the Safety Coordinator in completing monthly safety trainings for shift personnel
• Communicate consistently and effectively with shift counterparts, production manager, plant manager, technicians, HR, customer service and maintenance
• Enforce safety rules and maintain clean and orderly work areas
• Direct production activities for products in line with effective operations
• Allocate shift personnel to various areas to accomplish scheduled jobs and maintain production efficiencies
• Encourage and lead maximum shift production flow while ensuring safety and quality

• At least 1 year of lead/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, prioritize workload, and multi‑task
• Strong leadership by example and ability to build effective teams
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and time‑management skills
• Ability to work in a factory environment and perform manual labor
• Effective communication with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Ability to read and perform mathematical calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
