Position: Area Director I - Blue Valley

Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith. Candidates are expected to possess a personal belief in Jesus Christ as their Savior and to subscribe to the organization's Statements of Faith and policies.

All employees and volunteers are required to maintain biblical standards, refrain from conduct that detracts from ministry, and abide by all policies and practices.

Spiritual Development
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Ensure all ministry in the area is designed and carried out with dependence on prayer.
Leadership Development
  • Partner with Regional Director and Committee to cast vision.
  • Develop consistent gatherings to build unity and provide direction.
  • Create a spiritual leadership plan for volunteer leaders, staff, and committee members.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise area staff and leaders.
  • Provide quality summer staff, work crew, and adult guests.
  • Model excellence in various ministries.
  • Train leaders and team leaders to work effectively and develop a yearly ministry strategy.
Resource Development
  • Provide leadership to the TDS team and committee in finding partners for vision and budget.
  • Develop and lead the area’s fundraising strategy.
  • Raise necessary funds and maintain a one‑month cash reserve minimum.
  • Build the brand via public relations.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality events reflecting ability to impact kids.
Direct Ministry
  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead or co‑lead a model Young Life club.
  • Supervise an effective Campaigner ministry with excellence.
  • Observe and evaluate schools/ministries yearly.
  • Implement ongoing plans to maximize Gospel proclamation through camping.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property or camp.
Ministry Support
  • Adhere to all policies and maintain professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
  • Accept both short and long‑term assignments of projects.
Training
  • Participate in mission‑wide staff conference every four years.
  • Participate in additional training if deemed necessary.
  • Attend regional training directed by the Regional Director.
  • Pursue continuing educational opportunities including graduate degrees.
  • Participate in programs designed for personal spiritual maturity or enrichment.
  • Attend seminars to enhance professional skills.
Supervision
  • Supervises 1 to 3 clubs and/or ministries.
  • Supervises 0 to 25 volunteers.
Working Conditions
  • Experience extremes of a camp assignment (heat/cold, dirt, long hours).
  • Physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc.
  • Staff must handle these conditions.
Qualifications
  • Requires 1+ year of related ministry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with kids and adults.
  • A call to reach kids with the Gospel.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must complete Core Training – Phase One within 36 months of hire date.
  • Previous Young Life experience and training required.
Education

College degree preferred.

Location
  • Must live locally in the Blue Valley area.
  • Position is not truly remote; requires nights and weekends.
Salary

Base pay range: $50,000 – $62,850 depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
