Heritage Grove Estates is seeking a dedicated and organized Staff Development Nurse (SDC) to lead and coordinate clinical education, onboarding, and competency programs within our skilled nursing facility. This role is essential to ensuring clinical staff are properly trained, supported, and equipped to deliver high-quality, compliant resident care.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and conduct orientation programs for all new nursing staff, including CNAs, LPNs, and RNs
- Develop and implement ongoing education and in-service training programs in accordance with CMS, KDADS, and facility requirements
- Ensure all staff maintain required certifications, competencies, and licensure compliance
- Conduct skills validations and competency assessments for clinical staff
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date education records, training logs, and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify training needs and performance improvement opportunities
- Support infection prevention initiatives through education and compliance monitoring
- Assist with survey readiness by ensuring staff education aligns with regulatory expectations (including F-tags such as F726, F880, etc.)
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
- Provide coaching and support to nursing staff to improve clinical performance and adherence to best practices
- Assist with policy and procedure updates related to clinical education and staff development
- Monitor and report training completion, competency gaps, and compliance trends to leadership
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current, active RN or LPN license in the State of Kansas
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
- Experience in staff education, training, or leadership role strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, infection control standards, and clinical best practices
- Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications
