Licensed Practical Nurse
The Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) is searching for a licensed practical nurse to join our team of dedicated professionals. This is an opportunity to deliver care to at‑risk youth in a clinic, hospital, institution, or home setting under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist. Key Responsibilities- Performs nursing procedures or specialized functions in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure.
- Participates in the evaluation of responses to interventions.
- Teaches basic nursing skills and related principles; delegates nursing care tasks such as taking temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, giving enemas, douches, and sitz baths, collecting specimens, and measuring intake and output.
- Assists in assessing, reporting, and recording health status of patients, families, and groups in a variety of settings.
- Participates in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care.
- Administers medications as ordered.
- Reports appropriate patient information to supervisor or appropriate health team member.
- Serves as Charge Nurse on a unit, supervising staff performing medication administration and patient care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Ability to multi‑task and adapt to demanding and changing timelines.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion, integrity and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while building strong relationships with all levels of staff and effectively collaborating, communicating, respecting, and assisting peers.
- Annual Salary: $67,500.00
Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing plus one year of practical nursing experience; or Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) plus one year of practical nursing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and CompetenciesKnowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, practices, and theory; medical terminology; infection control measures. Ability to exercise sound judgment, follow detailed oral or written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and provide nursing care to patients or clients.
Special Requirements- Incumbent may be required to travel as part of job responsibilities and must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license for operating state‑owned vehicles.
- Must be able to pass OSBI and FBI background check.
