Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Responsibilities
  • Enhance the clinical care and quality of life of residents, ensuring that all resident rights are protected
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician
  • Check all residents daily to ensure prescribed treatment is properly administered and evaluate their physical and emotional status
  • Keep the RN Supervisor informed about the status of residents, staff and related matters
  • Implement recommended changes as directed by the RN Supervisor or the Director of Nurses
  • Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feeding, suction, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage bags, and specimen collection per facility policies and procedures
  • Complete all required LPN record‑keeping forms and charts upon admission, discharge, transfer, etc., and file or forward to the appropriate department
  • Give and receive nursing reports upon reporting in and at shift change
  • Investigate complaints and grievances and provide necessary oral or written reports to the RN Supervisor or Director of Nurses
  • Present a professional image to residents and families through dress, behavior and speech
  • Adhere to the facility’s policies and standards
