Job Information  Exemption Status:
Non-Exempt    A Brief Overview  Cotton O'Neil Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Department treats patients with both acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. The Orthopedic registered nurses are expected to work in the clinic for new consults, follow up appointments, nurse visits, and injection procedures. Registered nurses will receive phone calls, appropriately triage the patient, make independent decisions, provide recommendations, and relay messages to providers to deliver prompt, prioritized care.

Registered nurses will be responsible for imputing surgery case orders, assisting with injections, applying and removing casts, removal of sutures and staples, and assisting with procedures.
Education Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

* Experience in a clinic setting. Preferred

* Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
* Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required
* Basic Life Support - BLS RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department. Must have within 90 days of hire.

* Promote infection prevention through use of standard precautions, proper procedure in dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene and cleanliness of the patient rooms/department
* Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employs strategies to promote health and wellness.
* Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
* Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect.
* Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and supports the effectiveness of professional relationships and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice.
* Demonstrates advocacy in all roles and settings.
