Non-Exempt A Brief Overview The Pulmonary Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care. The Pulmonary RN is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the clinic, including the delegation of defined tasks to other members of the healthcare team in order to achieve quality patient care while providing a safe environment for patients.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient assessment and triage, excellent communication and customer service skills, counseling and educating patients related to pulmonary and sleep conditions and disease processes. The Pulmonary RN prepares patient charts with necessary medical information from referring physicians for office appointments. The Pulmonary RN rooms pulmonary/sleep clinic patients, obtains vital signs and reports patient concerns or pertinent observations to provider.
The Pulmonary RN is responsible for coordination of tests and services, assisting physicians with procedures, completing in-office testing ordered by the provider, and accurate documentation of all patient related activities. May also perform procedures and testing under indirect physician supervision.
Education Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

* Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution. (Required proficiency)
* Demonstrates awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution. (Required proficiency)
* Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strives to manage situations in a manner, which minimizes risk to the patient and the institution. (Required proficiency)
* Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills. (Required proficiency)
* Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal and written methods. (Required proficiency)
* Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
* Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required
* Basic Life Support - BLS RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department. Must have within 90 days of hire.

Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiological and cognitive status. Administers prescribed medications, infusions, and/or treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
* Formulates a prioritized and goal directed plan of care, which is based on patient’s presenting problems and projected outcomes.
* Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent manner, while promoting the continuum of care.
* Functions to establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies. Prepares equipment and aids provider during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
