Regal Professional Services has been engaged by a Nursing & Rehab client to hire a DON/ Director of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas.
SummaryDON is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care. This role involves strategic planning, staff management, and regulatory compliance to maintain and enhance clinical standards within the facility.

Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and manage the nursing staff to maintain a high standard of patient care and professional conduct.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Coordinate with medical directors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and patient-centered care plans.
- Oversee staffing schedules, recruitment, and training programs to ensure adequate coverage and continuous professional development.
- Conduct regular audits and quality assurance activities to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to support nursing operations and departmental goals.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, patients, and families to address concerns and improve service delivery.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to maintain compliance and enhance nursing practices.
- Registered Nurse (
RN
) license in good standing in Kansas. - Skilled Nursing Facility & (Assistant) DON experience required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (
BSN
) degree required;
Master's degree preferred. - Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient care standards, and quality improvement processes.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare management software.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Certification in Nursing Leadership or Administration preferred.
- Experience in budget management and strategic planning within a healthcare setting preferred.
