Registered Nurse/Surgical Stepdown RN

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Stepdown unit. This position requires expertise in post-surgical care, specifically for patients undergoing abdominal and colorectal surgeries. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 32-bed unit that specializes in caring for patients post-abdominal, colorectal, and other major surgeries, including:

• Colectomy
• Bowel resection
• Ostomy procedures
• Hernia repairs
• Urological procedures (TURP, kidney stones, prostatectomy)
• Orthopedic surgeries (hip and ankle fractures, amputations)
• Plastic surgery (debridements)
• Specialty wound care and surgical drain management

• Length of
  
  Contract:
  
  26 weeks, with the possibility of extensions for up to 51 weeks.
• Orientation Dates:
  Orientation occurs bi-weekly, with start dates available. Flexibility regarding start dates is essential.
• Shift: 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Rotation:
  Every other weekend required.
• Holiday Rotation:
  Opportunity to request one holiday off, with specified federal holidays.

• Minimum Experience:
  
  1 year of progressive care/step down nursing experience required.
• Education:
  
  ADN or BSN required.
• Licensure:
  Active KS or multistate RN license required with no hits allowed.
• Certifications:
  
  AHA BLS certification is required at the time of submission.

Required immunization documentation includes:

• Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella immunity (by titer or proof of vaccination series)
• Tdap vaccine
• Influenza vaccine or exemption during flu season
• Tuberculosis documentation
