Position SummaryThe Assistant Manager, Operations is responsible for managing overall store operations and achieving company goals and directives.
ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Provide positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware.
- Assist customers in solving problems and handle complaints.
- Greet and thank customers upon entering and leaving the store.
- Maintain a friendly, outgoing demeanor and excellent product knowledge.
- Answer calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively.
- Ensure a positive, professional, and safe work environment for all associates.
- Supervise general operations, opening, and closing of the store.
- Assist with implementation of Store Support Center programs, including loss prevention, safety, and internal audits.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Assistant Manager – Merchandising on all aspects of store management.
- Participate in weekly management staff meetings and communicate issues to the appropriate department with GM approval.
- Assist with special projects and implement new Standard Operating Procedures.
- Oversee daily maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor merchandise areas.
- Ensure timely and accurate weekly price changes and label updates.
- Oversee all cashiering functions, including training, maintenance, audits, and reporting.
- Manage and direct preventative maintenance and repairs to protect physical assets.
- Conduct competition visits to benchmark practices.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- Ensure safe and efficient forklift operations and receiving.
- Adhere to best practices and Standard Operating Procedures for receiving, checking, and stocking merchandise.
- Maintain back stock levels and execute cycle counts and negative on hand reports accurately.
- Assist in ordering and maintaining desirable product inventory levels for profitability.
- Assist with merchandise resets and ensure current signage throughout the store.
- Present a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and promotional and incremental merchandising.
- Assist in training all associates and promote the advancement of Westlake Ace associates.
- Recruit, hire, schedule, review, reward, and coach Head Cashiers and Cashiers with GM approval.
- Manage all aspects of store operations in the absence of the General Manager.
- Lead by example, be approachable, and participate in store meetings.
- Communicate merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas to the General Manager for follow‑up.

- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred:
Previous retail management experience. - Preferred:
Hardware experience. - Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and climb.
Compensation
:
Starting at $18/HR.
