Overview

Responsibilities- Provide outstanding customer service, using the S.A.L.E.S. process to assist shoppers.
- Complete departmental paperwork accurately (price change bulletins, operation actions, red tags, bin tags).
- Receive, unpack, and inspect merchandise; replenish stock as needed.
- Display merchandise per plan‑ogram and create attractive end‑cap or shelf displays.
- Maintain on‑hand inventory integrity through cycle counts and negative on‑hand reporting.
- Follow nightly maintenance checklist for store recovery and cleanliness.
- Apply loss‑prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting.
- Operate store tools (RF gun, back office procedures, store opportunities) and adhere to GLA policies for all transactions.
- Engage customers in the Ace Rewards program and encourage membership participation.
- Manage cash operations: safe/register counting, banking, and communication with the store manager.
- Prepare rain checks and follow up per corporate guidelines.
- Communicate effectively via oral and written channels and work collaboratively with team members.
- Maintain a clean and safe store appearance, including break rooms, restrooms, and the customer‑service counter.
- Assist with color matching, paint mixing, and paint service recommendations.
- Provide service in areas such as chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
- Operate the cash register, perform suggestive selling, process payments, and thank customers.
- Participate in periodic team meetings and maintain regular, punctual attendance with a flexible schedule, including weekends.
- Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Common sense reasoning and problem‑solving in standardized situations.
The role requires regular walking, handling, and lifting of materials up to 40–50 pounds with assistance. Employees may climb ladders, stand, reach, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Regular hand and arm use, as well as talking and hearing, are necessary.
Work EnvironmentEmployees work near mechanical parts and outdoor conditions. The noise level is usually moderate, and the environment may include moving equipment and variable weather.
CompensationStarting at $13 per hour.
