HVAC Specialist - Facility Operations

The City of Topeka is seeking a skilled HVAC professional to work as a lead technician in the facility operations division. This incumbent is responsible for planning, directing and performing a variety of work to ensure the adequate and efficient operation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems city-wide.

What you'll do:

* Perform maintenance, modifications and repairs to a variety of HVAC systems city-wide.

* Administer HVAC service contracts and work performed by contractors.

* Serve as a lead worker and technical expert on HVAC maintenance, including training others in routine HVAC preventative tasks and safe work practices

* Maintain records, collect, compile and analyze data, and prepare reports as required.

* Perform electrical and circuitry repairs as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is required.

* Graduation from an accredited vocational school with specialized training in air conditioning or closely related field, is required.

* Must be a licensed refrigerant recovery system technician

* Must have three years of experience in the care and maintenance of HVAC systems with experience in maintaining commercial / industrial electrical and plumbing systems.

* Must have and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license and meet the Citys insurability requirements. Please review the insurability guidelines here.

* Experience as a safety trainer / coordinator highly desired, as well as an inventory specialist.

* Must be able to pass an extensive background check, including a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) check and KBI fingerprinting.

Entry rate of pay: $20.49 - $21.43 per hour, depending on qualifications
