Driver, Medical ​/ Patient Transport, Transportation

Responsibilities

• Transport residents in facility‑approved vehicles, ensuring safe loading and unloading to medical appointments, activities, and outings.
• Assist residents with wheelchairs, restraints, and mobility devices during transport and when entering or exiting buildings.
• Support disabled and/or elderly residents during vehicle and building entry and exit, and to and from doctors’ offices as appropriate.
• Collaborate with departments to deliver and pick up items such as x‑rays, pharmaceuticals, medical records, and mail.
• Maintain HIPAA‑compliant documentation of all transport activities.
• Communicate promptly to supervisors or designees regarding any service disruptions.
• Maintain the interior and exterior of vehicles, ensuring a safe and comfortable transport environment and projecting a positive community image.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance logs, arranging for scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations.
• Remain flexible and available for special occasions and schedules.
• Maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license in good standing.

• Proven experience with transporting residents.
• Ability to work effectively with handicapped and elderly individuals.
• Strong adherence to Code of Conduct, facility policies, and all applicable federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, including those of Department of Health, CMS, and other regulatory bodies.
• Excellent communication skills with operational personnel, residents, family members, and community contacts.
• Positive representation of the organization and ability to use tact and understanding.
