Summary
The incumbent serves as a Transportation Assistant – Transportation Coordinator acting as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs. The incumbent works with the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation, and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement (06/25/2026). Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS‑05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑04. For a GS‑06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Specialized
Experience:
For GS‑05 you must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS‑05) in the Federal Service, directly related to the work of the position and equipped with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant – Transportation Coordinator for the GS‑6 level. Qualifying specialized experience includes performing transportation support duties such as coordinating connections/scheduling, documenting travel information, collecting, compiling, and tracking data on a daily basis;
performing a basic analysis of data and generating a variety of reports; entering data into automated tracking databases; and planning and directing a program that provides support services. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Education:
4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials.
Education cannot be credited without documentation.
Combination of
Education & Experience:
Equivalent combination of successfully completed post‑high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours, beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
For GS‑06 you must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS‑05) in the Federal Service, directly related to the work of the position and equipped with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant – Transportation Coordinator for the GS‑6 level.
