Hourly Wage: $29.70/Regular/Full-Time/Supervisory

This position is under the direction of the Wildlife Program Manager and is responsible for the overall administration of the grants and contracts for the office while ensuring accountability and fiscal compliance

with Yakama Nation policies and procedures. Work requires strict attention to detail, accuracy, protection of confidentiality and utilization of judgement and discretion in implementing wildlife program policies.

Examples of Work Performed:

Communicates with award agencies on specifics of grants and contracts, such as but not limited to, scopes of work, budgets, budget modifications, narrative and financial reports, correspondence, and other items as requested.

Assists staff in the preparation and submission of grant applications, checks for errors and ensures applications are fully complete.

Uses a team approach, requiring a friendly, cooperative working relationship with co-workers and other programs, agencies, tribes, vendors, and the community.

Establish and maintain on-going communication with Grants & Contracts, Central Accounting and Finance to ensure document procedures are adhered to for processing.

Communicates with appropriate staff to ensure grant/contract timelines are being met.

Ensures expenditures comply with grant/contract requirements and expenditures are within budget and allowable under all regulations for tribal and federal contracting.

Reviews and verifies administrative, financial, and programmatic reports for accuracy, completeness, and adequacy and includes all appropriate and relevant supporting documentation and reconciliation with Financial System and approved by Grants & Contracts office.

Maintain all relevant program documents in paper, when necessary, and electronic format for record keeping and to serve as backup for auditing purposes.

Prepares quarterly and annual budget reports with the program manager.

Attend meetings and workshops to stay informed of state, federal, local, and government to government regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of Yakama Nation's grant and contract policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Tribal Administrative Policies and Procedures for Accounting, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements.

Knowledge and experience with maintaining accurate records of work activities, project file information and documentation of decision points, along with all documents associated with various funding sources.

Knowledge of Yakama Nation's accounting software system.

Familiarity with the day-to-day financial activities.

Skilled in use of personal computers, various software packages.

Skills in providing reports in writing and verbal communication.

Skilled in analyzing and solving complex accounting and financially related problems for the purpose of financial accountability and maintaining accuracy.

Ability to properly record, correct and document financial discrepancies.

Ability to research internal control systems to verify and document those financial reports are accurate and correct, and that all financial documentation is consistent and thorough.

Ability to perform work independently, maintaining a high level of professionalism and adherence to strict professional and ethical standards to safeguard Yakama Nation's financial interests.

Ability to demonstrate a high level of personal integrity and maintain confidentiality.

Ability to manage multiple complex accounts and manage competing deadlines.

Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations, priorities and handle frequent interruptions.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to maintain excellent time and attendance to meet program goals and objectives.

Ability to plan, organize and develop personal workload independently and allocating time to the appropriate project accounts.

Minimum Requirements:

Familiar with working on grants from federal, state, and local entities.

A combination of education and work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the position may substitute for educational background.

Must pass a pre-employment background check.

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.

Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business or accounting.
