(TEMPORARY POSITION/ BASED ON GRANT FUNDING)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Farm-to-School Specialist is a temporary, grant-funded position for the 2025-26 school year that supports Farm-to-School activities. The role focuses on promoting Washington-grown foods in schools by coordinating with local farmers and school staff, assisting with taste tests and presentations, and helping develop recipes that meet school meal guidelines. The position works under the direction of the Food Service Director and has varying hours as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
* Valid Food and Beverage Service Workers Permit.
* Valid Washington State Driver's License required.
* Previous school district cook experience preferred.
* SNA membership preferred.
* WSNA Certified Level 1 preferred.
* Must be productive, efficient (able to work at a fast pace), dependable, and able to meet timelines.
* Basic computer knowledge required
* Bilingual preferred but not required
* AA Degree preferred but not required
* Must be able to use a computer or lap top with no training required
* Must be able to travel in-district and to local farms
* Must be able to work with and follow direct instruction and guidance from the Food Services Director
* Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds.
* Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively as part of a team.
* Possess skills necessary to build rapport with students and staff from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
* Working home or cell phone.
* Must be able to pass a Physical Capacity Exam and fingerprint background check.
* Other duties as assigned.
RCW 49.58.110 REQUIREMENTS
Salary Range: $30 per hour
