Astria Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse Unit to join our team! This position is located at our Astria Toppenish Hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit.

Shift: Day Shift 0700 - 1930 Details regarding days worked will be covered in the interview.

What you get to do every day!

As the Licensed Practical Nurse in the Behavioral Health Unit, you are responsible to provide comprehensive, patient-centered mental health care to individuals with acute psychiatric conditions. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive holistic and safe care in a structured and supportive environment. You will:
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute psychiatric conditions, including assessment, planning, implementation, discharge planning and evaluation of care,
  • Monitor patient status and provide updates to the treatment team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals,
  • Providing patient and family education to support recovery and engagement in the care process,
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, interventions, and clinical updates in electronic medical records (EMR),
  • Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team (IDT) to develop individualized care plans tailored to patients' mental, physical, and emotional needs,
  • Ensuring accurate and efficient execution of physicians' orders,
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor for side effects,
  • Lead or assist in group therapy, psychoeducation sessions, and activities aimed at improving patients' coping skills and emotional regulation,
  • Effectively managing patient pain as necessary,
  • Implement de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to maintain patient and staff safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum three years' experience working in a multi-physician practice preferred.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Critical thinking skills and judgement. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of nursing principles, standards of care and HIPAA. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Licenses/Registrations/Certifications: Current WA State LPN license. Current BLS. ACLS required within 3 months of hire.
