Relative Care Specialist
Child Care and Development Fund

Hourly Wage: $22.17-$24.97/Regular/Full-Time
The Relative Care Specialist supports unlicensed relative childcare providers participating in the CCDF Program by coordinating onboarding, health and safety compliance, documentation, and ongoing technical assistance. The position serves as a liaison between relative providers, families, and CCDF staff to ensure program requirements are met in a timely and consistent manner.
This role provides hands‑on training and ongoing support to relative providers in the use of Care Connect and Microsoft Office programs to ensure accurate documentation, effective communication, and proper record‑keeping.
Examples of Work Performed- Assist relative providers with completing CCDF enrollment forms, background checks, W-9s, agreements, and required verifications.
- Conduct relative provider orientation, explaining CCDF program policies, approved hours, supervision expectations, and payment procedures.
- Ensure required training is completed and properly documented.
- Conduct required home visits to ensure compliance with CCDF health and safety standards.
- Identify corrective actions and assist providers in achieving compliance.
- Track correction deadlines and follow up until all items are resolved.
- Document each visit, communication, and update in program files and databases.
- Work with families to clarify allowable hours and required documentation, including work schedules and school calendars.
- Ensure authorized care hours align with parent eligibility and school‑age child care requirements.
- Coordinate with the Intake Specialist when family updates affect provider eligibility.
- Assist providers and families in understanding claimable hours and attendance requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate provider files, ensuring all required documents are current.
- Track expirations, renewals, training deadlines, and missing documentation.
- Assist with audits, annual CCDF plan updates, and internal compliance checks.
- Provide ongoing guidance to help providers understand CCDF rules and responsibilities.
- Support providers in navigating attendance systems, monthly claims processes, and policy updates.
- Communicate upcoming requirements, deadlines, or policy reminders.
- Work closely with the Licensor when safety or compliance concerns occur.
- Participate in program meetings, training, and community/provider events.
- Assist with provider outreach, training events, orientations, and program messaging.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Yakama Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge of Yakama Nation culture and language.
- Knowledge of child safety practices and early learning environments.
- Knowledge of computer software, Microsoft Office Programs, and video conference platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively with families and providers.
- Ability to explain policies clearly and consistently.
- Ability to conduct home visits and navigate varied environments.
- Ability to interpret and apply CCDF regulations and tribal policies.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to build and maintain positive, professional working relationships with staff, supervisors, leadership, and the public.
- Ability to work occasional night and weekend hours.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience working with families, childcare, social services, or community support roles.
- Required to pass a pre‑employment drug test.
- Required to pass a pre‑employment background check.
- Must pass initial and periodic Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Portable Background Check (PBC).
- Possess a current First Aid‑CPR card or obtain one within 3 months of hire; required to maintain certification.
- Possess a current Food Handler's Card or obtain one within 3 months of hire; required to maintain certification.
- Must have a Physical Exam and TB Screening or be able to obtain one within 6 weeks of hire.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit with Defensive Driving Course certificate (to be updated every 2 years).
- AA Degree in Early Childhood, Social Services, or related field.
- Yakama enrolled preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
