Medical / Patient Transport, Driver
Position Overview
Assists residents with loading and unloading from facility approved vehicles. Ensures the safe transportation of residents to scheduled medical appointments or other approved activities, resident outings, etc. Maintains the interior and exterior of facility vehicles to promote safe and comfortable transport for the residents and project a positive image in the community. Monitors vehicle maintenance logs and delivers vehicle for regularly scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
All other duties as assigned.
Must be flexible with work time (in the event a resident appointment or activity runs late). Must have training and be able to demonstrate safe clinical based transfer techniques for: in‑gress/egress of mobile patients with van transfer of patients into and out of wheelchair; properly securing wheelchair‑bound residents into bays in vans; must be able to lift, transfer and mobilize patient weights of up to 70 pounds by self in confined areas inside van;
must be able to make complex decisions involving a highly dependent patient base.
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.
Qualifications- Education:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or a GED. - Age: 25 years old or older.
- Driver’s License:
Must have a valid driver’s license. - Driving Record:
No traffic crimes in the last 7 years. DUI, DWI, reckless driving, any traffic felonies, multiple DUI or DWI, leaving the scene with injuries, or assault with a vehicle result in disqualification. Not more than two moving violations in 3 years and not more than one accident in 3 years. - Screening:
Pass a drug screen and background check. - Computer:
Proficient in the Microsoft Suite. - CNA Training:
Must have successfully completed CNA training and maintain all CE to maintain certification. - Other
Skills:
Ability to read, write, and understand job‑related instructions and manuals; ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and residents; mathematical skills (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions); reasoning and problem‑solving ability; ability to interpret instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear.
