This project supports the preparation of ROM’s Library collections for future transitions, including creating space in the Library stacks to accommodate materials from departmental libraries as curatorial staff retire. Working closely with the Library & Archives team, you will help ensure materials are accurately processed and catalogued so they remain discoverable within the UTL system.

This role is ideal for someone with training in library techniques who enjoys detailed cataloguing work and contributing to the stewardship and accessibility of research collections.

  • Create and update bibliographic and holdings records to ensure materials are accurately catalogued and discoverable.
  • Apply established cataloguing standards and metadata practices to support collection management and accessibility.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency in record creation to support retrieval and long‑term collection stewardship.
  • Work collaboratively with the Library & Archives team to prepare materials for transfer and ensure project timelines are met.
What You Bring
  • Community College diploma in Library and Information Technician studies (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Approximately 1–2 years of experience working in a library or archives environment.
  • Knowledge of library cataloguing and metadata standards such as MARC
21, RDA, Library of Congress Classification, and Library of Congress Subject Headings.
  • Experience working with integrated library systems such as Ex Libris Alma/Primo is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy when entering and managing cataloguing data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload independently.
