Registration Officer

Locations: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Hybrid)

Core Responsibilities
  • Review registration filings of moderate complexity.
  • Conduct registration gatekeeper functions through quality, timely and consistent review of NRD applications and notices.
  • Review information relevant to registration using internal and external sources.
  • Correspond with filers and their representatives requesting further information, where applicable.
  • Accurately assess and recommend an appropriate course of action for filings.
  • Maintain detailed records of reviews and adhere to policies and procedures for reviewing, analyzing and recording of filings.
  • Identify and escalates sensitive, urgent or unusual regulatory issues or concerns.
  • Report to the Registration Manager and support Senior Registration Officers.
  • Support information resources that assist with registration functions.
  • Liaise with CIRO Regional Offices to provide information on registration filings.
  • Assist with other department initiatives where required.
Key Skills and Competencies

Must‑haves:

  • Good understanding of CIRO Rules and related policies and instruments.
  • Detail oriented with good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced high‑volume environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong service skills when dealing with sensitive information with members and the public.
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
  • Good file management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, prioritizing tasks within established service timelines.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and other standard office software.

Nice‑to‑haves:

  • Proficiency with the National Registration Database.
  • Post‑secondary education (University Degree or College Diploma).
  • Completion of CIRO proficiency courses.
  • Minimum 2‑3 years of financial industry experience, preferably in registration.
