Your opportunity
The Rehabilitation Sciences Sector (RSS) in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine is a world leader in the delivery of rehabilitation sciences health professional programs and research. The RSS is comprised of four essential departments:
Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT), Department of Physical Therapy (PT), Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI), and the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).

As Admissions and Student Services Officer, you will play an integral role in supporting our future generation of health professionals in becoming leaders in research, clinical practice and the promotion of health and well‑being. You will work collaboratively with senior leadership and administrative staff to support admissions process and student success, including advising our students on academic and financial matters, relaying information about program requirements, procedures, deadlines and policies, and verifying information such as course material and student access.

Your demonstrated ability to foster and maintain networks across and outside of the University will be critical in engaging our community to foster an inclusive and welcoming learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include

Advising students and potential applicants on academic and financial matters

Advising on the review process for petitions and appeals, suggesting alternative course of action if necessary

Analyzing and making recommendations on award funding allocation

Analyzing and maintaining data, generating reports about enrollment projections and planning and identifying the need for additional lecture sessions

Responsible for all aspects of the admissions process including reviewing and assessing applications and grade calculations

Directing the scheduling and workflow of responsibilities for a small group

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

Minimum four years of progressive related experience in a student admissions environment within a large post‑secondary institution

Strong understanding of principles of equity; experience working with under‑represented groups and supporting inclusion initiatives

Demonstrated experience advising and providing guidance to prospective applicants, students and parents on admission requirements and processes

Demonstrated knowledge of key graduate functions including admissions, enrolment, awards, funding and registration

Strong understanding of principles of equity; experience fostering an inclusive community and applicant experience

Experience assessing and making recommendations on the allocation of award funding and bursaries

Experience supporting and coordinating communication materials for committees and events

Demonstrated experience analyzing data, producing statistical reports and working with data visualization tools

Experience conceptualizing and organizing events, including conducting post‑event evaluation and analysis

Experience directing the workflow of appointed staff

Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, Zoom, learning management systems, student information systems and content management systems

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a diverse population

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong initiative, attention to detail, interpersonal, proactive and highly resourceful

Proven ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality
