What You’ll Be DoingThe Compliance and EAML Examinations Program (CEEP) is a global examinations team that carries out Regulatory Compliance and ML/TF Examinations of LOBs and functional groups. The role operates under the Global Methodology, Programs and Strategy (GMPS) Team. GMPS is responsible for supporting the EAML and Compliance Examination teams through the development, implementation, maintenance and governance of the examination program, tools/templates, annual examination schedule, training and management reporting.
The Director, Deficiency Validation Center of Competency (DVCC) is responsible for ensuring that deficiencies identified by CEEP are remediated effectively, thereby strengthening CIBC’s regulatory compliance and EAML control environment. Through rigorous review of management’s remediation activities, DVCC validates that compliance with regulatory requirements and CIBC policies are restored and sustained. As the Director, you will design and execute a framework and plan that will be used by the team to complete validation of deficiencies issued by CEEP resulting in an independent opinion on the design and effectiveness of management’s remediation.
You will build and maintain strong professional relationships with deficiency owners, internal partners within CEEP and across the three lines of defense where applicable. Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring activities are conducted to high standards of accuracy, rigor, credibility, integrity and according to regulations and industry standards.

How You’ll Succeed- Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, procedures and operational processes. Demonstrated strong understanding of risk management and controls – design adequacy and operating effectiveness assessment, root cause analysis (5-why’s), evaluation of control sustainability, risk exposure evaluation – impact and likelihood assessment. - People and assignment leadership:
Coach team members on their developmental needs and provide leadership during individual assignments as well as team opportunities. - Effectiveness and Execution:
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute remediation validation activities and effectively manage multiple activities at different stages to ensure completion within required timelines. Communicate regularly on progress and issues to ensure timely execution of team deliverables and at a high level of quality and compliance with CEEP methodology and procedures. - Reporting:
Drive the development of deficiency remediation closure memos where you objectively assess the adequacy of management remediation activities and their potential impact on the business and the CIBC Group of Companies while presenting them in a clear, concise and professional way. - Innovation:
Exercise strategic vision to drive innovation and process enhancements pertaining to CEEP Deficiency Validation Center of Competency. - Stakeholder Management:
Provide trusted and proactive advice to business partners as they progress through their remediation activities. Partner closely with business partners, CEEP personnel (including CEEP SLT), HoC and AML Advisory to ensure optimized progress on CEEP deficiency remediation and validation activities. - Change Management:
