This position is provisionally Onsite/Hybrid, requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.
About the EngagementAkkodis is seeking an experienced Senior Risk/Compliance Specialist to support enterprise risk assessment, control design, compliance activities, and advisory functions within a public‑sector environment. The role involves conducting detailed risk assessments, supporting remediation initiatives, evaluating internal controls, and ensuring alignment with applicable legislation, industry standards, and organizational policies. The successful candidate will work with technical and business stakeholders to identify risks, interpret requirements, and support implementation of effective control strategies.
Scope- Conduct risk assessments across diverse data sources and operational areas.
- Analyze risk inputs to identify control gaps, non‑compliance, and remediation needs.
- Interpret policies, standards, and legislation to provide compliance guidance to leadership.
- Support internal and external audits with evidence gathering, interpretation, and documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across business, technical, and operational domains to identify control gaps and remediation needs.
- Analyze data from multiple sources to determine risk exposure, control effectiveness, and compliance alignment.
- Interpret legislation, policies, and industry standards to develop actionable compliance recommendations.
Must Have:
- 7+ years of experience working with internal control frameworks and control mappings.
- 7+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting technical concepts including logical access control and agile development processes.
- 7+ years of expertise in gap analysis, remediation planning, control design, and risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of governance and compliance requirements across security, privacy, and assurance domains.
Nice to Have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
