Description

About us

U of T Mississauga—the second largest campus of Canada’s top-ranked university and the only research university in Ontario’s booming Peel Region—is one of the world’s great catalysts of human potential. Our employee community hums with the energy of 3,400 faculty, librarians and staff, who power our campus with curiosity, connection and care. We work together to spark life‑changing research and innovation, make an indelible mark on the world by building equitable cities and societies, enable healthy lives, create a sustainable future and ignite entrepreneurship.

Above all, we prioritize student success, and seek to give our 16,500 students the lift of a lifetime through learning and discovery. We love to open opportunities available nowhere else for our community to achieve their ambitions and make their unique contributions to Canada and the world. This work all comes together on a spectacularly green campus, alongside the Missinihe‑ziibi (Trusting Creek or Credit River), where we seek to honour truth, reciprocity and reconciliation on the traditional land of the Huron‑Wendat, Seneca and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

We’re thrilled to welcome those who want to learn more about us and to be part of what we do.

Your opportunity

As the Project Coordinator, you will play a central role in supporting the successful opening and operational readiness of a new residence building. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a highly visible, time‑limited initiative that brings together planning, coordination, and implementation across a complex, fast‑paced environment.

Reporting to the Director, Student Housing and Residence Life, you will work closely with and take general direction from the Senior Leadership Team, including the Assistant Directors, to support cross‑functional project work. In this role, you will help ensure that priorities are aligned, timelines are met, and information flows effectively across teams.

You will support the coordination of work across multiple internal units and campus partners by tracking deliverables, supporting meetings, maintaining documentation, and following up on actions and decisions. You will also act as a connector between parallel working groups involved in the new residence build, including internal project teams, external partners supporting operational readiness, and construction‑related stakeholders.

This role will be carried out alongside an already complex, year‑round housing operation, requiring strong organizational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex initiatives, working collaboratively across diverse groups, and seeing projects move from planning into execution.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Planning and implementing project phases
  • Developing or modifying project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
  • Informing project leaders of issues and roadblocks
  • Checking that assigned work completed meets expected standards
  • Making minor purchases
  • Generating reports
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years professional experience in project coordination, including 3 years professional experience in student housing/residence operations.
  • Experience developing project plans, strategic plans, or other project coordination documents.
  • Experience with project design and implementation.
  • Experience coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow‑up items.
  • Experience compiling project information from various sources, compiling data, and preparing complex reports and presentations…
