The opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Marketing, the Salesforce Specialist, Philanthropy is responsible for supporting the effective use of Salesforce across the Philanthropy & Partnerships team and as needed, the broader organization. This role ensures accurate data, timely reporting, and reliable business support to enable fundraising performance, leadership decision‑making, and campaign execution.

The Specialist will also work closely with the IT Product & Platforms team to maintain, optimize, and evolve Salesforce as a core enterprise platform—bridging fundraising needs with technical delivery.

Responsibilities

Salesforce Support & Administration

  • Act as the Philanthropy team’s primary point of contact and super user for all Salesforce related inquiries.
  • Provide day‑to‑day end‑user CRM Salesforce support to the Philanthropy team, including issues triaging, prioritization, troubleshooting, fixing and configuration updates.
  • Maintain the Philanthropy CRM data playbook and all documentation of standard operating processes and data protocol and ensure that all documentation is up‑to‑date and adhere to MODC’s data governance and philanthropy policy.
  • Understand the structure of the database and ensure that the team all use these fields, objects, workflows and automations following the same playbook.
  • Support and manage user access and role‑based permission.
  • Perform Salesforce business administration tasks as required.

Data Management, Reporting & Data Pulls

  • Create Salesforce reports and dashboards to provide valuable insights and analytics to the team.
  • Deliver recurring and ad hoc data extracts and integration in support of operational and business performance needs from fundraising, finance, executive office, and others.
  • Set up and manage KPI reports and dashboards tracking key Philanthropy metrics (revenue, pipeline, acquisition, retention, campaign progress).
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency within the CRM and across all digital communication and fundraising platforms such as Fundraise Up and Mail Chimp through regular data audit and cleaning tasks and corrective actions as needed.
  • Support financial reconciliation processes and reporting requirements in collaboration with Finance.

Campaign & Fundraising Enablement

  • Support Salesforce readiness for the comprehensive campaign, including donor pipelines, moves management, proposals, and stewardship tracking.
  • Enable segmentation and data structures that support leadership giving, mass marketing, and digital fundraising.
  • Translate philanthropy team needs into practical Salesforce solutions.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely and dynamically with IT to manage system updates, enhancements, integrations, and data governance.
  • Support the evolution of Salesforce as an enterprise platform with MODC, participating in related projects, and contributing as the Salesforce subject matter expert for Philanthropy.
  • Coordinate with external vendors or consultants when additional Salesforce support is required.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and communicate changes to the Philanthropy team’s Salesforce knowledge documents such as user and training guides. This may include changes to the CRM,…
