Business Development Manager
Custom Manufacturing Services | Commercial & Industrial Markets | Canada
Leap Recruitment Partners is partnering with a high-precision custom manufacturing organization seeking a strategic, growth-driven Business Development Manager to lead expansion across the Canadian Commercial and Industrial sectors.
This is not a catalog sales role.
This is a strategic hunter opportunity for a professional who understands how to sell manufacturing capability, engineering expertise, and long-term production partnerships.
The OpportunityWe are seeking a high-caliber sales architect who can transition clients from “buying a part” to “investing in a manufacturing partnership.”
You will partner with engineering and operational leaders to secure custom production programs — from initial design collaboration through tooling, production ramp-up, and long-term supply agreements.
This is a role for someone who thrives in complex sales cycles and understands how to create sustainable revenue through strategic industrial relationships.
The MissionSell the Service — Not the Part.
Build multi-year custom manufacturing programs by aligning engineering design, production capability, and commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Design Optimization Leadership – Collaborate with customer engineering teams to refine and optimize product designs for high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Strategic Hunting – Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities within Commercial and Industrial segments aligned with long-term profitability targets.
- Full Lifecycle Sales Ownership – Lead the complete “Quote-to-Award” process, including pricing strategy and contract negotiations that balance client value with program margins.
- Market Intelligence – Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving product categories to identify high-growth verticals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with internal product development and operations teams to deliver on complex client specifications.
- The Service-Seller Mindset – Proven experience winning custom-engineered contracts rather than transactional equipment sales.
- Established Industrial Network – Existing relationships or a strong book of business within Canadian Industrial/Commercial sectors (HVAC, Electrical, Heavy Equipment, or related).
- Program Sales Expertise – Minimum 5+ years managing complex sales cycles, including negotiation of tooling investments and long-term production agreements.
- CRM Discipline – Strong proficiency using Hub Spot or similar CRM platforms in a structured, data-driven sales process.
- Collaborative Leadership – Ability to translate engineering language into business outcomes while aligning internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 5+ years of consultative sales experience within custom manufacturing, engineered solutions, or complex industrial environments
- Deep understanding of plastic injection molding or comparable custom manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and executive communication skills
This is a true growth mandate. You will not inherit a territory — you will build strategic industrial partnerships that define the next stage of the organization’s expansion.
If you thrive in complex, consultative sales environments and want to architect long-term manufacturing programs, this opportunity is built for you.
