As the payments ecosystem evolves toward real-time infrastructure, cloud-native platforms, and AI-enabled operations, Red Compass Labs delivers payments modernization outcomes through two complementary routes: consulting-led engagements powered by our people and AI itself with advisory support around it. We are expanding our commercial team to bring both to market effectively across North America.
We are seeking a Director of Business Development to drive new client acquisition across North America, building a strong pipeline of payments modernization opportunities and winning new long-term relationships across Red Compass Labs value propositions.
Role Overview The Director of Business Development is responsible for originating and winning new client relationships across the North American financial services and payments ecosystem. This is a senior sales role focused on identifying high-value opportunities, building trust with new prospects from the ground up, and leading the full enterprise sales cycle through to close.
The role requires a commercially sharp, consultative approach, able to position Red Compass Labs' unique combination of payments expertise and AI compellingly to new buyers, and to select the right commercial model for each opportunity.
The Director of Business Development will work closely with internal teams, including pre-sales, delivery, resourcing, and product, to ensure every client opportunity is shaped into a solution that is both commercially compelling and operationally credible. Once a new client relationship is established and an initial engagement is underway, account ownership transitions to the Strategic Account Director. The Director of Business Development remains focused entirely on net new pipeline generation and conversion.
Key Responsibilities New Business Development Identify and pursue new client opportunities across the North American financial services and payments ecosystem, across Red Compass Labs value propositions
Work closely with the Commercial leadership team to define and execute a shared target acquisition strategy, ensuring North America activity is aligned to global commercial priorities and coordinated across geographies
Develop and execute a territory strategy for North America in collaboration with Commercial leadership team, identifying priority segments, target institutions, and the most effective routes to first engagement
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified new business opportunities, with accurate and disciplined forecasting maintained in CRM systems
Lead the full enterprise sales cycle from initial outreach and engagement through to proposal development, negotiation, and contract execution
Position Red Compass Labs AI as either an accelerator of consulting outcomes or as a primary offering with advisory support, depending on client need, and pursue opportunities through both routes
Identify and develop opportunities where a new client engagement in one commercial model can evolve into the other, and actively pursue both pathways
Develop a deep understanding of the North American payments modernization landscape, including key institutions, active transformation programmes, regulatory drivers, and competitive dynamics
Build a high-quality network of prospect contacts across target financial institutions, proactively generating meetings, introductions, and first conversations
Monitor industry trends and use insight to identify and frame timely, relevant outreach to new prospects
Develop targeted outreach strategies for priority segments and accounts, working with marketing and the CCO to maximise pipeline conversion from campaigns and events
Represent Red Compass Labs at industry events, conferences, and client forums to build market presence and generate new opportunities
Build initial relationships with C-suite and senior leadership stakeholders, CIOs, CTOs, Heads of Payments, Transformation Leaders, at target prospect organisations
Represent Red Compass Labs in early-stage executive discussions around payments transformation, AI, technology strategy, and operational modernization
Help prospective clients frame and articulate their payments modernization challenge, positioning Red Compass Labs as the right partner to solve it, through AI led payments modernization
Help clients navigate complex industry changes including real-time payments adoption, regulatory transformation, and AI-enabled operations
