The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About

the Role

As a key member of the Consumer & Market Intelligence team, you’ll manage end-to-end research projects, from scoping and questionnaire design to analysis and storytelling. You’ll support major programs, while helping teams across OCS make informed, insight-driven decisions.

This role is perfect for someone who brings strong fundamentals in research methods and best practices and is excited to grow their craft in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and/or support research studies end to end, including scoping, design, all the way to delivery
  • Write questionnaires and program surveys (Qualtrics or similar)
  • Analyze survey data and synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights
  • Synthesize insights across multiple projects to answer strategic business questions
  • Translate complex findings into compelling stories that inform organizational strategy
  • Collaborate with team members to gather supporting data (e.g., sales, GA/web analytics) for holistic reporting
  • Create tailored presentations, dashboards, one-pagers for a range of audiences, including but not limited to cross functional stakeholder teams, Senior Leadership, and external facing material
  • Present insights in a compelling and strategic manner to drive understanding and action among diverse audiences
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with cross-functional partners, external vendors, retailers, and licensed producers
  • Ensure research quality, consistency, and ethical standards. Help maintain research standards and best practices across the team
  • Stay current with evolving consumer behaviors, regulatory changes, and market dynamics
About You

Required:
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • ~5 years of experience in quantitative research (vendor or client side)
  • Ability to scope business needs and translate them into actionable research
  • Hands‑on experience with full research lifecycle management
  • Ability to translate data into clear, meaningful insights
  • Strong storytelling and data visualization skills, with the ability to present insights in a compelling and influential way Experience presenting insights to senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (Power BI is a plus)
  • Experience with survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics or similar)
  • Solid grounding in market research techniques, methods, and best practices
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and strong communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Considered an Asset:
  • Experience in cannabis, CPG, or retail
  • Certified Marketing Research Professional (CMRP) or Certified Analytics and Insights Professional (CAIP)
  • Proficiency in Power BI
  • Familiarity with text analysis tools and techniques
  • Exposure to advanced analytics methods (e.g., regression, modeling)
  • Experience incorporating non-survey data (e.g., POS, wholesale, web analytics)

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $73,113 - $83,000. This is a pay grade 7 Bargaining Unit role, with a salary range of $73,113 - $89,361. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
