Overview
The Senior Manager leads bank-wide sourcing and project activities for an assigned category portfolio, collaborating with senior business unit leadership and sourcing leaders to improve quality, innovation, and service levels.
Responsibilities- Develop relationships with business leaders to support enterprise objectives, influence key stakeholders, and lead sourcing strategies while collaborating on sourcing initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with Business Unit and Operations leaders to fully understand key business drivers, spend drivers, and achieve required support levels.
- Lead business value through the development of high‑quality and cost‑effective supply relationships, championing total cost of ownership savings by leveraging bank‑wide purchasing volume, strategic partner relationships, and demand management.
- Directly lead and implement best practices in sourcing initiatives.
- Manage categories within and across the bank’s business segments and contribute to an evolving supplier management process.
- Track sourcing initiatives for multi‑functional stakeholder teams, ensuring effective strategy development, market assessments, RFP processes, and supplier management while enabling collaboration and innovation.
- Establish and develop ongoing strategic relationships with key suppliers during major sourcing/project initiatives.
- Work proactively with business line contract owners to understand needs, strategy, and contract renewal pipelines to build a supplier contract strategy that considers consolidation and reduction opportunities.
- Act as the issues/incident escalation point for suppliers that may have an enterprise‑wide impact.
- Contribute to disciplined spend‑influence and cost‑saving efforts across all business segments.
- Support consistent application of procurement processes across constituent groups.
- Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Apply the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
- Ensure operational, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risk controls meet obligations under relevant frameworks.
- Champion a high‑performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members while fostering an inclusive setting, communicating vision, and managing succession planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or related field; a master’s (MA or MSc) in business or a related field is an asset.
- 5–10 years of progressive sourcing experience; corporate real estate category knowledge is an asset.
- CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification preferred.
- Global sourcing experience.
- Excellent change‑leadership, conflict resolution, and advanced problem‑solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and comfort speaking with senior bank leaders, including bridging communications to structure contracts that deliver against bank needs.
- Knowledge of financial services regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and their application to third‑party relationships.
- Ability to comprehend complex technical and financial issues and use them to inform action plans and supplier strategies.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships with global stakeholder groups.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with high professionalism.
- Knowledge and experience with state‑of‑the‑art procurement and analysis technologies.
