Manager/Director, Investor Relations
Position Overview
Our client is a long standing Canadian commercial real estate equity and debt investment manager operating within a larger alternative global asset manager. The firm invests across a diverse range of asset classes and provides investment solutions to institutional, high-net-worth, and retail clients through a well-established and growing platform.
The firm is currently seeking a Manager/Director, Investor Relations to join its Toronto-based team. Reporting to the COO, this individual will play a key role in managing and enhancing the overall investor experience across a sophisticated and sizable institutional investor base. This is a multi-faceted role that encompasses the execution of investor engagement strategies, capital raising activities, marketing and communications, reporting and CRM processes.
The Manager/Director will work closely with senior leadership, internal sales and marketing teams, and investment professionals.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in a front-facing client relations role ideally in an alternative asset environment. Superlative communication, organizational, and relationship management skills are essential for this role.
Role Responsibilities- Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of the firm’s investor service model and overall investor experience strategy.
- Establish and manage the investor journey, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience across all investor touchpoints.
- Drive proactive investor engagement, including regular communication, meetings, and events with existing investors.
- Coordinate and deliver investor reporting and communications, including reporting distribution and customized reporting requests.
- Prepare and maintain core investor presentations, master marketing materials, investment summaries and other investor-facing materials.
- Support due diligence processes, assist in the preparation of RFPs, DDQs, and other investor materials, and coordinate follow-up analysis and requests from prospective investors and consultants.
- Act as a central point of contact for investor inquiries and work cross-functionally to ensure timely and high-quality responses.
- Partner with the sales team to support capital raising initiatives, including onboarding and the development of pitch materials.
- Contribute to brand-building initiatives, including events, conferences, and external engagement activities.
- Maintain and oversee investor data within CRM systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and effective reporting processes.
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA and/or CFA is an asset).
- 5+ years of investor and/or client relations experience at an asset or fund manager.
- Strong understanding of real estate investing, capital markets, and investment fundamentals.
- Experience working with institutional clients, consultants, and high-net-worth investors creating investor correspondence, reporting and marketing materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with senior stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM systems such as Salesforce.
- Fluency in French is considered an asset.
Legal eligibility: at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
