What You'll Be Doing

The Sr. Consultant, Procurement manages the end to end procurement activities focusing primarily on software, Saas and IT Services. In this role, you will define issues, recommend an engagement and contract approach and resolve in an innovative way when a request is presented in an ambiguous manner. You work in a self-regulated manner and are responsible for the contract projects you are assigned including procurement research & strategy, vendor selection, deal negotiation, deal presentation, and the contract approval process.

You will work with minimal direction with a mission to cut costs, minimize risks, and drive continuous improvement on moderate to high complexity projects. The Sr. Consultant co-ordinates the inputs of CIBC's legal resources, subject matter experts and the line‑of‑business to create a contract that sets both CIBC and the supplier up for success. You will develop contract content (ex.

commercial terms and descriptive content) independently or in partnership with a subject matter expert.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on‑site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

Focus on each client experience and make every interaction meaningful. Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with business partners, suppliers, and peers. Develop trusted adviser relationships and provide valued consulting advice to facilitate the effective management and completion of procurement initiatives.

Align procurement solutions with their business objectives. This role works with Supplier Risk Stakeholders, Relationship Managers and Business Leads to ensure CIBC’s supplier management framework is implemented.
  • Risk Management & Industry Knowledge – Ensure the appropriate governance is followed and adhered to for all contracts. Keep abreast of the industry knowledge, innovations and advancements in business practices and technologies.
  • Influencing and Negotiations – Become a strong influencer and negotiator with the ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders. Manage contract drafting, negotiations and finalization and the approval processes. Comply with CIBC’s Procurement and Supplier Governance policies and process.
  • Problem Solving – Listen, ask questions, and put yourself in the client’s shoes. Act like an owner by taking accountability for client issues, and know when to collaborate with others to build a better solution together.
  • Manage Multiple Priorities – Use effective self‑management practices to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritising and time allocation.
Who You Are
  • You can demonstrate experience of 3+ years of procurement and/or supplier processes, practices, tools and templates and principles of formal sourcing processes. You maximise efficiencies, processes and systems to meet CIBC business goals. You have strong self‑planning skills sufficient to plan your own assignments according to general work plans; ability to multi‑task, plan and meet timelines. Experience drafting various contract schedules (ex.

Scope of Work, Commercial Terms, etc.) is preferred but not necessary. You have strong written and oral communication skills and the desire to grow toward strong influencing and negotiating skills. Knowledge of SaaS or Cloud, and IT Services based contracts would be an asset.
  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships, and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You build trust through respect and authenticity. You support your team members and use each other as sounding boards.
  • You put our clients first. You engage with purpose and the required level of urgency to find the right solutions. You go the extra mile, because it’s the right thing to do.
  • Your influence makes an impact. You know that…
