We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Coffee Director to help drive the next stage of our growth.

Position Overview

The Coffee Director will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of Ethica Coffee Roasters. This position combines business development, wholesale growth, product innovation, coffee quality management, education, sourcing, and brand expansion. The successful candidate will work closely with ownership and the management team to grow the business while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities Coffee Growth & Strategy
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including wholesale partnerships, retail expansion, and direct-to-consumer initiatives.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans while maintaining product quality and brand integrity.
  • Support operational improvements and scalable business practices.
Sales & Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain relationships with specialty coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and other hospitality partners.
  • Expand and manage wholesale accounts.
  • Establish strategic partnerships and collaborative opportunities within the food and beverage industry.
Brand & Market Expansion
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitive opportunities.
  • Represent Ethica Coffee Roasters at coffee events, trade shows, competitions, and industry gatherings.
  • Explore opportunities for domestic and international market growth.
  • Support café operations and customer experience initiatives.
Product Development & Innovation
  • Collaborate with roasting and quality control teams to develop new coffee offerings.
  • Lead seasonal releases, special projects, and innovative product concepts.
  • Ensure products align with customer demand, market trends, and company values.
  • Participate in quality control systems implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in roasting operations as required.
Education & Training
  • Develop and manage internal coffee education programs.
  • Deliver training in barista skills, sensory evaluation, brewing, roasting, and coffee knowledge.
  • Provide training and support for staff and wholesale partners.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and continuously improve educational programs.
Sourcing & Quality
  • Build and maintain relationships with coffee producers, exporters, and suppliers.
  • Assist with green coffee purchasing and quality control.
  • Support sustainable sourcing initiatives and long-term supplier relationships.
Website & Product Management
  • Maintain coffee product listings and website content.
  • Update product information, packaging changes, and promotional content.
  • Coordinate with external web development partners for major website updates and design changes.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, roasting, brewing, sensory analysis, and green coffee sourcing.
  • Experience in business development, wholesale sales, or coffee account management.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning.
  • Previous leadership experience in the coffee industry is highly preferred.
