OverviewThe Financial Institutions Partnerships team works with clients to advance Mastercard’s strategy by growing core, commercial, and emerging payments, and by delivering value-added services, including cyber and intelligence solutions. We are building a diverse, strategic, consultative team of sales leaders, problem-solvers, and relationship managers. The team supports Retail and Commercial growth by partnering across Payments, Treasury, Everyday Banking, Digital Channels, Data & Analytics, Marketing, Fraud/Risk, and Finance.
RoleThe Vice President of Financial Institutions Partnerships leads the enterprise sales strategy for a portfolio of Mastercard’s key Canadian customers. The role manages a team of senior sales professionals responsible for sales and relationship management and reports to the Senior Vice President, Financial Institutions Partnerships, Canada.
Team Leadership- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team with a disciplined approach to strategic selling and relationship management, creating long-term value for partners and Mastercard.
- Develop and oversee account strategies, coach on account plan development and hold the team accountable for delivery.
- Lead strategic selling and deal management to deliver strong commercial results and partner value.
- Align the team to regional and global strategies and objectives.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional partners and specialists to deliver outcomes.
- Own personal and team targets, including revenue goals and sales forecasts.
- Develop deep customer understanding and a clear point of view on how Mastercard can address business needs.
- Lead assessment of the financial and strategic scope of opportunities.
- Prioritize business development and sell-in strategies to support short-, medium-, and long-term objectives.
- Shape customer success strategies that drive revenue growth, retention, penetration, and lifetime value.
- Define and implement engagement models, processes, and disciplines that differentiate Mastercard’s partnership approach.
- Lead strategic dialogue and solution development across the full spectrum of Mastercard capabilities.
- Initiate executive-level conversations on new and emerging opportunities to grow share, volume, and revenue.
- Build and maintain relationships at the executive level and beyond.
- Deliver strategic account management through robust planning, differentiated solutions, and effective cross-functional execution.
- Develop business cases and financial models to support key initiatives.
- Negotiate, execute, and manage customer contracts, ensuring effective coordination and information sharing.
- Proven enterprise sales leader with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, with a history of solving complex problems and delivering revenue growth.
- Collaborative and forward-looking, with the ability to engage internal partners to deliver results.
- Effective influencer in matrixed, distributed (global/regional/market) organizations.
- Ability to build, manage, and grow relationships with executives at all levels.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working with speed, flexibility, and ambiguity.
- High business acumen and thought leadership.
- Passion for a solution-centric approach to customer success.
- Experience in payments and the financial institutions industry.
- Breadth across sales strategy, product development, business development, marketing, operations, risk, and emerging technologies.
- Approximately 20% travel, including client hosting.
- English required;
French is an asset. - Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
