Role Overview

We are looking to fill an existing vacancy for a Senior Specialist, Business Development to join our team in Toronto. This is a partner-facing, execution-focused role with a primary emphasis on pitches, proposals and RFP responses. Working closely with lawyers and BD Managers, the Senior Specialist will play a central role in developing compelling, client-centric materials that win work, while also supporting targeted business development initiatives and maintaining the firm’s core marketing assets.

This role is ideal for a strong writer and project manager who thrives under pressure, brings sound judgment and is motivated by contributing directly to revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the development of pitches, proposals and RFP responses from intake through submission.
  • Draft, edit and refine transparent, persuasive and client-focused content that reflects the firm’s positioning and differentiators.
  • Partner with lawyers to shape messaging, value propositions and team strategy based on client needs and competitive context.
  • Assemble and tailor credentials, experience and case studies to align with evaluation criteria and strategic objectives.
  • Manage timelines, inputs and approvals across multiple stakeholders to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.
  • Track outcomes and feedback to continuously improve content, approach and win rates.
  • Maintain and enhance core proposal assets, including practice descriptions, deal lists, biographies and client-ready materials.
  • Translate complex legal experience into clear, concise and compelling narratives tailored to different audiences.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, tone and brand standards across all materials.
  • Support legal directory and award submissions, including drafting and coordinating inputs.
  • Identify and curate relevant matters and referee strategies to strengthen submissions.
  • Support Business Development Managers and lawyers in executing focused client and market initiatives.
  • Conduct company, market and competitive research to inform pitches and outreach.
  • Assist in preparing client presentations, events and follow-up materials, where relevant.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date experience and credentials data for use in pitches and submissions.
  • Leverage CRM and internal systems to identify relevant experience, track activity and support reporting.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in business, marketing, communications or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of business development or marketing experience, ideally in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading pitches, proposals and RFP responses.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work directly with senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM and experience management systems is an asset.

Salary Range

The expected starting salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. The final offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
