The Entrepreneurship Hatchery creates startups leveraging University of Toronto research and technology. As a unique University Venture Studio
, out of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, we offer a comprehensive suite of activities and programs designed to build venture-backed startups. Engineering students, faculty, and the broader University of Toronto (U of T) community come together to tackle meaningful problems and pursue seed funding. Our model sources business ideas from researchers, investors, students, and industry partners; recruits the right talent to execute;

and vets each opportunity using our FEEL™ methodology. When a venture is ready, we provide seed funding and support founders through the follow-on investment process. In effect, we operate as a venture studio—creating vetted, investable startup companies while developing the entrepreneurial human capital required to lead them. Through this work, our goal is to ensure that a significant number of students and faculty build the confidence and capability to create startups by solving high-impact problems.

This offering is instrumental in translating existing research into real-world impact and generating newresearch opportunities. We believe this will stimulate the economy in both the short and long term through job creation and increased economic activity.
