The Archery Program Head is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality archery programming in alignment with established program manuals and skill progression standards. The role provides guidance and support to camp staff while ensuring a safe and well-organized environment for all participants. Administrative and operational duties include maintaining and organizing equipment, supporting overall camp activities, and contributing to staff development through participation in training and meetings.

Through consistent leadership and hands-on support, the role ensures a safe, engaging, and educational archery experience for all campers.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan all archery program blocks in accordance with program manuals, focusing on skill progression and alignment with the skill button program
  • Support Camp Counsellors by leading high-quality archery programming that meets program expectations and descriptions
  • Monitor the safety of all archery activities and respond immediately to address any safety concerns, maintaining a safe and organized environment
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed and maintained, and contribute to the cleaning, safety, and maintenance of camp sites
  • Set up, take down, maintain, and organize archery equipment efficiently
  • Provide overall camp support by assisting with break coverage and filling in for absent staff
  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings, arrive on time, and actively participate to contribute to the development of camp staff
  • Act as a positive role model for campers and staff by embodying YMCA values, policies, procedures, Day Camp guidelines, and Ontario Camping Association standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • You bring:

  • Post-secondary education (completed or enrolled preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of the contract
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a camp environment
  • Experience with YMCA Day Camps considered an asset
  • Experience leading recreation and/or archery programs considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children
