Associate Producer – TO Live

TO Live is one of Canada’s largest multi‑arts organizations, operating Meridian Hall, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, and Meridian Arts Centre. We are committed to Truth and Reconciliation through our programming and staff initiatives and are seeking applications from Indigenous persons.

The Programming Department, headed by the Executive Producer, is responsible for securing, servicing, and delivering TO Live’s rental business including corporate and private events, community and outreach programs, and TO Live Presents programming.

The Associate Producer reports to the Director of Programming and works closely with the Executive Producer, Director of Production, Marketing and Communications, Ticketing Services, and Development Departments. The Associate Producer will also collaborate with the Director of Indigenous Affairs and Engagement on special projects.

Producers at TO Live focus on TO Live Presents programming and are responsible for budgeting, contracting, planning, scheduling and executing events on time and on budget. There are opportunities to learn on the job and hone/sharpen your skillset.

Activities and Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of each of the artists and projects assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Indigenous Affairs and Engagement to ensure Indigenous protocols and ethical collaboration are integrated into all TO Live Indigenous initiatives.
  • Create and prepare programming budgets for review with individual estimates for each department.
  • Prepare and review contracts for Presentations for execution by the Executive Producer.
  • Continually update “working” budgets with actuals as they become known, escalating budget issues appropriately as needed.
  • Prepare budgets for government grants and other development needs in consultation with the Development Department.
  • Liaise between production, administration and visiting artists, including co‑production and co‑presentation partners.
  • Reconcile and negotiate final settlement with co‑producers and presented companies.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Miziwe Biik Eligibility
  • Potential candidates must be registered with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training, or eligible to register.
  • Must be First Nations, Inuit or Metis.
  • Must reside within the GTA.
Job Specifications
  • Experience in cultural program management and/or financial administration experience in the performing arts and/or special event sectors.
  • Experience in drafting contracts and negotiating skills.
  • Understanding and preparation of program budgeting.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for managing budgets.
  • Strong communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.
Working Conditions
  • Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights and weekends as required.
  • Lack of natural light in workplace.
  • Travel between TO Live venues as required.
