TVO Media Education Group (TVO) is a social impact organization devoted to inspiring learning that changes lives and enriches communities. We are an internationally recognized digital learning organization that strives to engage, inform and educate Ontarians of all ages.

A Culture of Inclusion and Belonging

We welcome the unique contribution that you will bring to TVO. We have a diverse workforce and are committed to building a culture within the workplace that brings out the best in everyone. As part of our strategic vision, we have adopted five core values; we embrace change, we value bold thinking, we thrive with diverse voices, we are better together, and we honour our commitments.

These values anchor how we work and lay the foundation for a workplace that celebrates differences, encourages self-expression and empowers learning, which we know is a key component to our success.

Who We Are

TVO is an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Education. Through our brands, TVO Kids, TVO Today, TVO ILC and TVO Learn, we provide multi-platform educational programming; ground-breaking original documentaries; in-depth public affairs content; the largest online secondary school in Ontario; and award-winning digital‑learning resources that support Ontario’s curriculum.

TVO is a registered charity funded primarily by the Province of Ontario and supported by thousands of sponsors and donors.

The Opportunity

Are you looking to be part of a smart, innovative team making internet‑savvy digital video content? Are you curious, creative, and have mad editing skills? Does visual storytelling come naturally to you? Are you a creator at heart? Are you obsessed with shaping stories for digital audiences, from long‑form You Tube videos to punchy short‑form cutdowns for socials? Do you care about how videos look as much as how they are cut, from composition to overall visual polish?

Do you have a strong eye for visual design and enjoy applying it to digital video and social content?

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to prove your ability to tell stories in new and engaging ways and to push the boundaries of video transformation. As part of a growing digital video team, you will play a key part in conceptualizing and creating digital videos for You Tube, Instagram and Tik Tok.

You will work with a team to produce captivating explainer videos on issues shaping the lives of our Ontario audience. This includes topics such as housing, affordability, and trade wars. The videos range from politics to science to tech. You will shape stories from concept through editing. You will create You Tube‑first videos that combine rigorous research and primary source journalism standards with engaging storytelling that reflects the experiences of communities across the province.

We recommend checking out Unravelled, one of TVO’s digital video series, to get a feel for the tone, craft, and storytelling style behind our work.

There is no minimum experience required, but you should be a whiz at editing with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. You should live and breathe social media. And if you can show viral success in one of your works on a social platform, so much the better.

You should have a positive, independent attitude. You should be able to think on your feet. And you should take your work seriously, but not yourself.

How you will make an impact

  • Working with a producer you’ll use Adobe Premiere & After Effects to cut weekly digital videos on topics ranging from politics to the climate crisis, from tech to education to work disruption to post on You Tube and social media platforms.
  • Being part of a team creating short digital POV video series and VLOG series. And…
