We’re looking for a hybrid Art Show Director in the art and cultural events industry.
Our client is a recognized leader in producing high profile art fairs and cultural experiences that bring together artists, galleries, collectors, sponsors, and global audiences. Known for curatorial excellence, commercial impact, and community engagement, this organization delivers world class live events that shape the contemporary art landscape. The Show Director is an existing position and will be responsible for the full strategic, commercial, and operational leadership of two major international art shows, from vision through execution.
Art Show Director responsibilities:
Develop and execute the overall vision, strategy, and long term growth plans for major art fairs and exhibitionsProvide end to end leadership for live events, including scheduling, logistics, production, venue coordination, and on site executionLead exhibitor sales and recruitment, identifying new markets and commercial opportunities to drive revenue growthOversee sponsorship strategy, including assessing opportunities, approving contracts, managing activations, and ensuring sponsor obligations are metDirect VIP programs, including evaluating past performance, building strategic alliances, and overseeing VIP lounge design, construction, and onsite experienceCollaborate with artists, curators, galleries, and stakeholders to deliver compelling, innovative, and high quality programmingManage and mentor cross functional teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and seamless delivery under tight timelinesBuild and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, partners, community organizations, and industry leadersPartner with marketing teams to support campaigns that drive attendance, exhibitor engagement, and brand visibilityOwn event budgets and financial performance, ensuring fiscal discipline while delivering premium experiencesEnsure compliance with legal, safety, accessibility, and operational standardsThe successful candidate has:
5+ years of senior level experience in art fairs, cultural events, exhibitions, or large scale live event managementA bachelor’s degree in Art, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree considered an asset)Proven experience leading complex, high-profile events with multiple stakeholders and revenue streamsStrong commercial acumen, including exhibitor sales, sponsorship, and budget managementExcellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skillsA strong understanding of contemporary art practices, cultural trends, and the creative industriesCompensation and benefits:
The discussed salary range is $130,000 – $140,000 depending on experiencePerformance based bonus opportunitiesCandidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be consideredComprehensive benefits packageHybrid work model based in TorontoOpportunity to shape flagship art events with a globally respected organizationCandidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
