Title:
Character Modeler
Reporting to: Character Modelling Supervisor
Purpose- To create stylized digital maquettes which include appeal and are consistent with the style of the project; completing modelling tasks, including retopology and facial blend shapes, which adhere to the pipeline.
- Digital character sculpts
- Character technical models
- Facial blend shapes
- Completion of tasks within agreed schedule
- Handling of revisions and tweaks effectively
- Review of technical modelling and blend shape tasks
- Creating stylized digital maquettes.
- Retopologising characters assets and modelling assembly assets.
- Creating blend shape sets that are appealing and support rigging and animation.
- Collaborating with Art Directors to establish and maintain the look of a show.
- Providing sculpts and launch notes to effectively direct the external studio on character modelling and blends.
- Reviewing technical model and blend shapes delivered from the external studios and ensuring the outsource partner has clear direction.
- Providing regular updates to the production and Head of Characters on any technical/workflow bottlenecks within the projects character schedule.
- Working knowledge of the requirements of topology for animation and rigging for the creation and editing of production models.
- Working as a character modeler (or similar position) in either broadcast or feature film work.
- With asset tracking systems (e.g. Shotgun) (desirable).
- Understands the core skills of Maya & ZBrush and is able to operate in the environment.
Salary range: $60,000 – $70,000 per year. Salary offers are based on experience, skills, qualifications, and education. Employees receive competitive perks including comprehensive benefits, paid vacation, and health & wellness days.
