You’re a leader who is motivated by serving audiences with breaking news and the latest developments on major stories. You are fearless amid ambiguity, remaining calm and responding quickly as stories unfold and programming teams lean on you for guidance. You help deploy teams to gather, verify and present accurate information to audiences across platforms, across the weekend. You are focused on meeting audience needs and have a deep understanding of what drives the audience to watch, listen and read across dayparts.

You rely on data and research to inform your decisions. You bring a deep understanding and appreciation of live production across platforms, modular and visual storytelling, and digital presentation. Your curiosity encourages experimentation, and leads to transformative change within a newsroom. CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices is your constant companion, guiding your journalistic decisions across the day. You are constantly seeking out new perspectives and drive inclusive journalism.

As required during weekends, you support special programming, breaking news, live events and planned specials. You manage the development and scheduling of staff. You guide and support on-air talent. You provide regular feedback to hosts, producers, reporters, writers and technical staff. You care for the physical and mental wellbeing of your team and co-ordinate support with the Managing Editor as required.
