About the Role: Reporting to the Manager of Broadcast Operations, this role is integral to the technical execution of live and recorded broadcasts at Global News Toronto. You will support a fast‑paced control room environment by operating and maintaining advanced broadcast systems and studio equipment, ensuring seamless, high‑quality delivery of programming and live events. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
Responsibilities- Assist in the operation of MOSART, the automated control room system.
- Operate Maestro and ORAD virtual set control systems.
- Operate Telemetrics robotic cameras in both virtual and live studio environments.
- Perform technical setup and conduct routine checks of robotic cameras, audio boards, lighting, teleprompters, closed captioning, and other studio/control room equipment.
- Conduct quality‑control checks on all programming airing from servers.
- Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, early mornings, and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Degree or diploma in Broadcast Technology from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a network control room or similar environment.
- Familiarity with newsroom and broadcast systems such as Mosart, ENPS, Open Media, Grass Valley, XPression, and ORAD.
- Strong technical knowledge of switchers, audio and lighting boards, robotic cameras, and graphics systems.
- A proactive, self‑starter mindset focused on improving workflows and production quality.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑tech setting.
- Excellent multitasking skills and adaptability in an evolving media landscape.
