Founded in 1991 by ahdri zhina mandiela, BCurrent Performing Arts manifests magical, joyful, and innovative art to expand the possibilities of Blackness for national audiences. We are a multidisciplinary arts organization committed to supporting artists from underrepresented communities and creating joy-centred narratives.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Digital Marketing Coordinator to lead our digital engagement efforts while supporting content creation for upcoming productions. This hybrid role combines digital marketing strategy with hands‑on production support, ideal for someone passionate about arts marketing who is comfortable both managing social media campaigns and capturing in‑person footage for promotional materials.

Position Details

Key Responsibilities Digital marketing & content strategy
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive digital content calendar aligned with production schedules and organizational initiatives
  • Create, schedule, and manage content across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, Tik Tok)
  • Design and distribute regular e‑newsletters using email marketing platforms
  • Write engaging copy for digital campaigns, production announcements, and audience development initiatives
  • Monitor social media engagement and provide analytics reports to inform strategy
  • Support the B Known brand positioning initiative through consistent digital messaging
Production content capture
  • Record video footage during rehearsals, performances, and special events for promotional use
  • Capture high‑quality photography for social media, press releases, and marketing materials
  • Edit and produce promotional trailers and video content for upcoming productions
  • Create behind‑the‑scenes content to build audience connection with artists and productions
Administrative support
  • Assist with general production administration as needed
  • Maintain digital asset library and organize content archives
  • Support B Friend fundraising initiatives through digital promotion
Qualifications Required
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a post‑secondary program in Marketing, Communications, Media Production, Arts Administration, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts (personal or professional)
  • Basic video recording and editing skills (smartphone‑based is acceptable)
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Enthusiasm for the performing arts and commitment to supporting Black artists and communities
Assets
  • Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Cap Cut, or similar)
  • Proficiency with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (Flodesk, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar)
  • Photography experience and access to camera equipment
  • Knowledge of Toronto’s performing arts landscape
