Content Specialist (12 Month Contract) – Sportsnet Who We’re Looking For
Sportsnet is looking for a Content Specialist, Social Media to elevate our social presence. The successful candidate will work with a talented team of digital and social media producers and content creators who combine creativity, sports knowledge, journalism instincts, and content production to create industry‑leading content seen by Canadian sports fans across all our platforms. The role is based in downtown Toronto and reports to the Manager of Social Media.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Support day‑to‑day content creation and distribution across multiple flagship brand social accounts with fan engagement and analytics as your compass.
- Contribute to and support detailed content planning for key marquee events, including timelines, deliverables, and cross‑functional alignment.
- Monitor social trends, influencers and relevant news to identify opportunities to join the social conversation and grow brand visibility.
- Support the editorial branch of Sportsnet’s social revenue business, while continuing to focus on building revenue & digital integration opportunities in conjunction with our on‑air, digital sales, and content integration teams.
- Partner with internal departments regularly to plan, roll out, and respond to brand building events and promotions.
- Promote editorial content and drive engagement on social media to maximize Sportsnet’s digital audiences.
- Contribute ideas for new content formats, series, and campaigns that elevate Sportsnet’s social presence.
- Source and curate content storylines/themes designed to engage fans.
- Knowledge of and experience working with social media, including X, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, You Tube, and Snapchat with a strong sports emphasis.
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Extensive knowledge of and passion for sports.
- Strong understanding of digital media landscape and shifting audience habits and experience with influencer relations.
- Experience working with content creators and managing high‑profile personalities is an asset.
- Energetic, creative self‑starter who is detail‑oriented, organized, solutions‑focused and results‑driven.
- Collaborative team player who works well under pressure, effectively manages high volumes of work and multiple projects, and meets deadlines in an extremely fast‑paced work environment.
- Exceptional relationship‑building skills.
Note:
This position requires flexibility in working varied hours and some travel.
